Barnabas
Encourager’s title is from a New Testament study of the character Barnabas,
which means Son of Encouragement. “And Joseph, who by the apostles was
surnamed Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of Encouragement) a Levite,
a man of Cyprus by race, having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid
it at the apostles’ feet” (Acts 4:36-37). Barnabas was a great example
for us. He encouraged the poor, the congregation, his younger brother to preach,
and was faithful in attendance. “Barnabas” awareness emphasizes knowing
how to say and do something that can bring hope to a person who might not
otherwise ever experience the brotherly love, security and significance
available through the church.
Encouragement
works. Everyone needs it, anyone can do it, and much good comes from it!
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are
doing." I Thessalonians 5:18 (E.S.V.)
EncourageNet The EncourageNet is an online news
communications tool that is sent periodically to the congregation. Through
this e-mail network, immediate and cost free distribution is provided to more
than 150 homes. Information includes those in need of prayer, benevolence,
and encouragement to the discouraged.
BARNABAS
ENCOURAGERS
The Barnabas Encouragers promote the biblical principle of encouragement and
growth in Christian maturity and godly character. Each encourager is becoming
more sensitive of ways to identify and meet the basic needs of the congregation.
It profiles new members and those
who have just been baptized, and covers details not available in the weekly
bulletin. EncourageNet also seeks to recognize good deeds and highlight
special events.

FOCUS GROUP: Under the direction of the elders and leadership of a deacon, Lucien Claiborne, a Focus Group was formed to identify, plan and conduct various areas of encouragement work. BARNABAS BASKETS
A basket is being put together for our brother Alex Watt. Anyone wanting to help with this project may bring a basket item, small gift, sweet treat, inspirational item, or hard to Ginny or Charlie Cochran by Jan. 22nd. We want to encourage our brother Watt for recently celebrating his 90th birthday and for living a long life in service to the Lord.
